Browsing
You do not need an account to look around. Search, filters, categories, locations and every published listing are open to anyone. You are asked for a phone number only at the point where you do something: post an ad, message a seller, see a phone number, save an item or set up an alert.
Only listings that have passed review are visible. If you cannot find an ad you were shown earlier, it may have been sold, taken down by its owner, or removed by us.
Signing in
There is no password. You enter your mobile number, we send a 6-digit code by SMS, and you type it in. That is the whole account.
We can send a code to India (+91), the UAE (+971), Saudi Arabia (+966) and Qatar (+974). Pick your country from the list before typing the number, and leave out the leading zero — if you type it anyway we will drop it for you. If you are somewhere else and need to sign in, write to help@kashmirfind.com and tell us which country; we can switch it on.
Never give that code to anyone, including anyone who says they are from kashmirfind. We will never ask you for it, by phone, by message or in chat. Anyone who does is trying to take your account.
If the SMS does not arrive, check the country code is right, wait a minute, and try again. Some networks delay messages at busy times.
Posting an ad
Tap Post an ad, choose a category, fill in the details and add photos. A few things that make a real difference:
- Photograph the actual item, in daylight, from a few angles. Pictures taken from another advert are the fastest way to lose a buyer's trust, and we look for them.
- Put the real price. "Call for price" gets far fewer messages.
- Say what is wrong with it as well as what is right. Buyers who find the fault themselves walk away.
- Pick the nearest neighbourhood, not just the district. Most people search close to home.
Do not put a phone number, WhatsApp number or email in the title or description. The server refuses those outright, and the ad will not save. It is not an arbitrary rule: contact details sitting in public text are what scrapers and scam callers collect. Buyers reach you through the chat, or by tapping to reveal your number, which only a signed-in account can do.
You can edit an ad at any time, mark it sold, or delete it, from My ads.
Review and rejections
Every new ad, and every edit to an existing one, goes into a review queue and is looked at by a person before it appears. That is why your ad does not show up the moment you submit it. You will see it in My ads marked as awaiting review the whole time.
Common reasons an ad is sent back:
- Contact details in the text (refused at the point of saving, not later).
- Photos that belong to someone else's advert.
- A price far outside anything plausible for the item.
- Things we will not carry: anything illegal, live animals, medicines, weapons, counterfeit goods, or offers of money-making schemes.
- The same item posted several times over to sit at the top of the list.
If an ad was rejected and you think that was wrong, write to help@kashmirfind.com with the ad title and we will look again.
Messaging a seller
Open the listing and tap Chat. The conversation stays inside kashmirfind, which means you can talk to someone without handing over your number first. Call reveals the seller's number instead, and needs an account.
Some messages arrive with a warning on them. That warning means the wording matches patterns we see in scams — it is a flag for you to read carefully, not an accusation, and nothing is blocked or hidden from you. You decide.
A seller who will not meet, will not send a fresh photo, or wants money before you have seen the item is telling you something. Walk away.
Staying safe
These are the scams that actually run on classifieds here.
The advance payment
A seller wants a token amount to "hold" it, or a buyer part-pays and asks you to courier the goods. Once the money moves it is gone. Pay when the item is in your hands.
The transfer story
"I am an army officer on urgent posting, I cannot meet, I will courier it." The uniform, the urgency and the courier are the scam.
The OTP and QR trick
A "buyer" sends a QR code or payment link and asks you to scan it or share an OTP "to receive" money. Scanning and OTPs send money out, never in. Never share an OTP, UPI PIN or card CVV with anybody.
When you meet
A busy public place, in daylight, with someone along if the amount is large. For a vehicle, check the RC and chassis number against the papers. For property, insist on original documents and verify them independently.
Listings are reviewed before publishing and flagged automatically when they look risky, but neither the seller nor the item is guaranteed by the marketplace.
Badges and ratings
Two different badges can appear on a member, and they mean different things:
- ID verified — a verification provider checked this person's identity against a government record.
- Document checked — the administrator looked at an identity document themselves.
Both are about who the person is. Neither says anything about the item, its condition or the price — nobody at kashmirfind inspects those. We never publish the legal name behind a badge; members are shown by their public handle.
A star rating only appears once someone has been rated, and a rating can only be left by somebody who actually held a two-way conversation with that member about a listing — one rating each, per conversation. That is deliberately narrow: it is harder to buy a reputation that way.
Getting verified
Open your account and choose a verification method. It is free, and it is optional — you can buy and sell without it.
We never ask for, receive or store an Aadhaar number, and the system refuses to save one if you type it in anywhere. A private marketplace is not allowed to hold Aadhaar numbers, and we do not want them. Aadhaar-based verification, where offered, happens entirely at an authorised eKYC provider; only the outcome comes back to us.
Reporting something
Every listing has a Report button; use it for anything fake, offensive, duplicated or simply wrong. Reports go to a person, not a queue nobody reads, and enough reports on one account stop it from posting until we have looked.
For something more serious — content you believe is unlawful, or a complaint about how your own data has been handled — there is a named Grievance Officer, with the timelines Indian law requires.
Your account and data
From your account you can edit your profile, see everything you have posted, and delete your ads. You can ask us for a copy of your data, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete your account and its content — write to help@kashmirfind.com. What we collect and how long we keep it is set out in the privacy policy.
kashmirfind can be installed on your phone: in Chrome use the menu and Add to home screen; on an iPhone use Share and Add to Home Screen. It then opens like an app.
Advertising on kashmirfind
Advertising slots on the site are sold by us directly. Every one is labelled as advertising, and the view and click figures advertisers see are counted once per person per day rather than once per page load. To talk about a campaign, write to help@kashmirfind.com.

Include your mobile number and the title of the ad if your question is about one — it saves a round of messages.
For a formal complaint under the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021, use the Grievance Officer page instead, so it is logged and answered within the time the rules set.
